Spring/Summer 23 on the PS shop
Hello everyone,
As has now become customary, I'd like to give you an insight into what’s coming up in the next six months on the shop.
Of course we can’t detail everything in advance, but we wanted to give you a rundown on what’s confirmed so you are aware of timings and can plan accordingly.
We currently have a slight delay on PS Oxford shirts, so please let us know if you would like us to open a pre-order so you can secure yours when they arrive in late Spring. Until a decision is made there, you can sign up to the waiting list on the product pages.
We have tried to be as accurate as possible with the dates below, but please allow some slight variation on the release. There may also be one or two new launches which have yet to be confirmed and will fall into this season.
As ever, any questions can be addressed to [email protected]. Thank you.

The cream linen fabric used for my suit here, which we had hoped to make available for this Spring/Summer, will unfortunately not be available. The mill wasn't able to reproduce it in time.
Please let us know if there anything here you’re not sure about, or if this list reminds you that there’s anything you would like to see in the future (product or colour wise).
Hi Simon,
can you share anything regarding the future availability if those cloths which are currently sold out?
Thanks,
Ludwig
The oxford cloths will all be restocked when the new shirts are.
The chambray should be back in late Spring.
The denims are not planned to be restocked.
The shetland tweed will be back in the Summer, ready for Winter wearing.
Do shout if I’ve missed anything
The Madras linen
I’m afraid that’s not coming back Henry. Thomas Mason say they are unable to reproduce it – they’ve tried but the washes were very different and not as nice. A real shame.
Bummer to hear about the Madras Linen. That was such a great cloth.
Yeah I know
Should we understand that denims will dissappear completely from the shop or would return later (next year)?
These versions of them will probably yes, and the Everyday Denim largely has already. But we are looking at a different version of denim
Would love to get my hands on a length of Everyday Denim. If there are any laying around, or if it is possible please let me know. Lighter Everyday Denim would be of interest too.
Thanks.
OK thanks Ben. I don’t think there will be, but noted
It’s a pity that you decided not to continue with them. Would you share rationales for this decision? My small proposition would be to openly share the information that a current product will not be restocked before it disappears – kind of Last Buy Order opportunity.
That’s a nice idea Daniel, if we’re organised enough we’ll definitely do that next time.
There are a few different reasons on the denims. One is that it’s a temperamental cloth to sell and store, given the fading. We have issues all the way along the chain from mill to customer. The main one, however, is that the vast majority of sales are for finished shirts, rather than cloth, but that was never the point of the material – it was meant to be for making bespoke shirts, because it was the only way to get the fading you’d expect of denim. I think we’ve decided that given the demand, we’d rather make our perfect pre-faded and pre-washed denim shirt.
Good to hear the chambray will be back!!
Hi Simon,
as February has now passed, please allow me to inquire about the oxford cloths again. Will it be only another few weeks or do you anticipate more serious delays?
Many thanks,
Ludwig
We don’t, but can I suggest asking the support team over email? They will be closer to the timelines once it becomes a questions of days and weeks
Hello Simon: you mention the Oxford shirts in new stripe colours – will you make the cloth available as well?
Yes good point, it will be
hi Simon, looking forward to the new oxford options. I just had the yellow oxford made up and I am quite impressed. All the best, Andrew
Wonderful, thanks Andrew. It’ll only get better with wear!
Hi Simon,
I know it’s not on the list above, but are there plans to re-stock the PS/PWVC Bridge coat?
Thanks,
Alan
Yes, but not until the Autumn
Hi Simon,
You mentioned that there might be a new colour in the PS t-shirt. Any further news on this?
Yes, we’re working on a grey but it requires developing a melange yarn, which has to be done from scratch. It should be ready in the next couple of months but not with this batch
Thanks for the update Simon.
And can I know if the tapered t will be this week or next?
Also, will the white Oxfords be restocked in this month’s batch?
Thanks in advance
Yes, the white oxfords will. On the T-shirts, they’ve left Japan but we don’t have a confirmed arrival date and so release date on PS
Got it, thanks Simon.
Grey is good news and definitely of interest to me! Just to be clear, will that be a plain grey or a grey stripe? (I’d actually be interested in both, though as cut lengths, rather than as RTW shirts).
This is the T-shirt, RT, not the oxford shirts
Ha! I’m clearly not with it today! ?
Great news! The PSxPW Bridge Coat has been a staple in the wardrobe and a continuous joy to wear.
Is there any news on the brown Donegal overcoat being back in more sizes Simon?
Fantastic pieces at affordable pieces (maybe with a bit of saving). Hope it continues!
Thanks. We’re not sure which donegals we’ll bring back this winter, but hopefully there will be a small number of brown, yes
Appreciate the updates and look forward to it. Hopefully you’re able to get more of the same brown overcoats in or an alternative brown material.
Hi Simon, new color for the finest polo – brown perhaps?
It’s not a guessing game I’m afraid! We’re confirming still
The text “to be announced” makes the question academic, but is the new colour for the Indulgent Shawl Cardigan still to be determined or has it already been confirmed?
Still to be determined
My vote would be a nice bottle green/British racing green with brown horn buttons.
Hi Simon, just wanted to ask if there’re any plans to restock the Lightweight Friday Polo? cheers
No, sorry Luke
Hi Simon, will the linen overshirts be the same colours as before? Can I also request a black version – I think it would look excellent.
Thanks for the vote Fred, noted!
Hi Simon, any update on the PS Shetland Tweed restock? Thank you!
Hey Gilles – someone asked that in the comments above. It will be back in the late Summer, to be made up for Autumn/Winter
Is there a pre-order? Or just the waiting list in the shop at the moment?
Hi Simon,
I would love to see a Donegal Overcoat in a dark Navy Herringbone.
I quite like the donegal overcoat but I find the white sparkles in the cloth to be a little showy for my taste, same goes for the ever popular light grey, though it is beautiful.
Best
Henry
Thank you Henry, good to know
Hi Simon,
when it comes to the Overcoats, is it all the colourways or just the navy?
Thanks,
Alex
The navy and the grey herringbone were restocked at the beginning of January. It’s not confirmed yet which will be restocked again this Autumn
Thanks Simon.
Is it likely that the cloth will be available again, for bespoke make up? I was hoping to get some of the original dark grey, but missed it, last time.
No sorry, it won’t be
I’d appreciate the dark grey being available again, if it makes a difference. I found it to be the most versatile of the colorways.
Good to know, thank you
Although, worth dropping the support team a line just to check there wasn’t anything left – I have a feeling there may have been 3m or so
Thanks, Simon. I’ll do that.
Hey Simon,
I really like the Linen Harrington. However, I don’t really need another blue jacket. Is it planned in other colors?
Not currently, no
Simon could you help with the sizing of the tshirt ? I normaly wear a smaller size as you since im 1.76 and im also thin. On tshirts i wear almost always medium. Should i try medium or small ?
I’d say medium probably – compare the measurements to a T-shirt you already own, but if in doubt take the larger size. Also see the medium and large on me compared, in the original launch post
I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere, but will the Finest Crewneck be available only in navy or in other colors as well? Excited for that one. Thanks.
Just navy to begin with
Sounds good. One follow-up question: can the Finest Crewneck (and similar merino knitwear) be worn underneath unlined suede? Or will the roughness and friction of the unlined suede damage the merino? I assume cashmere would be too delicate to wear under unlined suede, and so perhaps this is a good illustration of merino’s elegant balance between softness and durability.
It would be fine, and in fact cashmere would be fine too I think. Suede on the other side will be a very smooth leather so I wouldn’t have thought it would be an issue
New reader here. Can I ask why the blog is called “Permanent Style” versus “Evolving Style”?
Well that’s probably not quite as snappy! But originally it was a reference to Dressing The Man and ‘permanent fashion’. Today I’d say it that having permanently style necessarily involves evolution. More on that here
If we want things to stay as they are, then things will have to change . . .
I agree – please offer the linen overshirt in black.
Hi Simon, is the reversible suede bomber the Valstarino and if so in which colours will it be available ?
Best
Glenn
It’s not a Valstarino, we’re doing a new design of it this time and making it with Private White. It will be in dark brown
Are the Harrington restocks, current live and in May, going to be the same navy color? Or will one be a new color? Black or cream (maybe bone/sand) could be nice additions in the future. Or a lined version for Autumn.
Same colour, yes, though thanks for the suggestions on other colours. We wouldn’t do a lined version as the point is the lightweight and breathability, but the suede jacket that is out in a couple of weeks is a similar cut and style
Simon,
If the pre-order for the indulgent shawl collar cardigans are in April, when should we expect them to ship? Very excited to own one of these.
At the beginning of the Autumn – when the normal stock would be available
Wonderful news. Thanks, Simon. Now to choose between the Black or Navy…
Looks like lots of nice stuff coming up. I do wish they’d be larger sizes available for the finest merino stuff especially, but you can’t have it all.
As you know I’m a big fan of the brown coat, and while I make my decision on that, I’d just throw in a request for the wish list here – making that coat in a clean navy. Perhaps a herringbone, but just a more subdued everyday version. I think that would be an absolute smash hit, as would something in a lighter tone like taupe/clay/sand, perhaps similar to your Saman Amel coat. Just a thought.
Sad to hear about the cream linen not being ready in time. I do hope you’ll still offer it for next season if they can reproduce until then?
Thanks JB, noted, and certainly will do
Hi Simon,
I also think that a navy coat without any pattern would be a hit! Thanks for the great work and looking forward to HY2 PS Shop offer.
Pawel
Cheers Pawel
Hello Simon, is the Bullskin Tote the nubuck brown tote?
Will there be a preorder?
Thanks
Yes, and no, but don’t worry we’ll have plenty of stock. Just put your name on the waiting list on the page
What are the new stripe colors in the oxford?
We haven’t announced that yet
Would love to see high rise denim/chinos and sport coats. Nice wide lapels etc.
Hi Simon,
I’d love to see some sweaters in Casentino. Black would be nice as it’s never a colour option for Casentino from what I’ve seen.
Simon,
I love the linen bomber but have the linen over shirt and don’t want another blue. Is there any chance of a version in tobacco or ecru ? Also, how easy is it to shorten the sleeves on the bomber ?
Also I must ask again if you will do the trench in beige ? I asked PWVC if they would do me a MTM in their stone colour and they quoted me a 90% uplift ! Ridiculous if not slightly disingenuous.
Regards,
David
Hi David,
Not for at least a year I’m afraid on the bomber. Shortening is not that easy, as the ribbing is not that easy to take off and put back on again, but a good alterations place would be able to do it.
maybe they understood bespoke? wasn’t mtm +20%?
Simon, anywhere in London to try on your T-shirts for size?
No, sorry Michael. Only at our pop-up shops – and we do free returns and exchanges to reflect the fact that a size exchange might be required
Yep, thought so. I tried them all on late last year when you had the opening night of your pop up, but forgot to write down my size! I think I said to you I was a medium on the night and you said, ‘really’ in disbelief, ha! I also got your advice on the length of my coat.
Will give it a go and hope for the best! Thanks as always, Simon.
No worries, pleased I was some help at least!
I am writing this note to seek your expert advice. My return to India is imminent but before I leave to get a pair of beige trousers and two pairs of jeans.
I am open to having them made or bought ready to wear from London. These are meant to be worn every day and I will be satisfied if each pair costs no more than 350/400 GBP.
Please do kindly let me know where should one invest. Thanking you in anticipation.
Hi Ankit,
On the jeans, I would suggest going to see Blackhorse Lane near King’s Cross. They have a broad spectrum of styles and can do MTM if you need it, though for a little more than that price. They also do nice chinos which are worth trying. Or do you mean tailored trousers, just in a beige cotton?
Tailored trousers, just in a beige cotton- to begin with sounds good!
Perhaps Anglo-Italian?
Yes, please! Anything that is straight cut and has no breaks. My only twin considerations.
not only about spring, but…
reading some comments about a “new” coat. does that mean Donegal gets discontinued? cream would be my second choice but it would be worth it to get it instead of hoping for charcoal return. (v1 didn’t fit me and last year by the time I got to try it on it was too late already)
cardigan preorder. full price upfront or half half?
and that new coat. still private white?
No, the donegal is not being discontinued. Other details not confirmed yet Martins
Hi Simon,
i was looking to buy the white tapered t-shirt but once I got to paying it had gone up to £80 (approx).
Whilst I appreciate there is a shipping fee, I wasn’t aware of taxes for the items. I’m in the UK, is the the norm with a lot of the PS items? Just seemed like a drastic increase from the base price.
Rich
Hi Rich,
That’s just the normal VAT you’d pay on anything. We show prices without VAT because most customers are outside the UK, but then the normal VAT gets added when you select your shipping country.
I’m sorry they’ve got a little more expensive recently, prices are going up from suppliers across the board.
Morning Simon,
Thanks for the clarification. I was a bit surprised by the jump but that makes sense now. Although once I’d thought about it and convinced myself to buy it anyway they’d sold out!
Any idea when another restock will happen?
Rich
Not for a few months I’m afraid, production in Japan is really constrained at the moment.
Do add yourself to the waiting list though, as we will get back some size exchanges
Any chance that we will ever see a suede overshirt in the PS style?
I wouldn’t have thought so Manuel, or at least not in the same style as the summer ones
Hello, Simon. I completely understand that supply issues are impacting almost everyone. I have some outstanding commissions and just the availability of the cloth itself seems to be a significant issue in delays. That said, do you have any updated range for when the new Finest Crewneck might become available?
Pretty soon – a couple of weeks hopefully
Hallo Simon,
I understand that products may be delayed, but why did the preorder for the shawl collar cardigan that was scheduled for April end mid March?
Best regards,
Manuel
Sorry, we pulled it forward because we were worried about delays at the factory and delivering on time.
It was always going to last that length of time, we just made it earlier to avoid that possibility.
Hi Simon, how would you rate the PS Oxford, PS Lighter Everyday Denim and PS Chambray shirts for hot weather? I am in a fairly tropical climate and hoping to pick the one (or two) which will be easiest to wear all year round.
The chambray would be the easiest, followed by the denim, with the oxford the warmest
Thanks Simon, I am now the happy owner of both the chambray and a pink oxford.
As an idea for a new product, could I put in a vote for the chambray in a lighter, more corporate blue (similar to the blue oxford)?
Sure Angus, thank you
Have I missed the Dartmoor restock and new black color? Or has it just been delayed?
Same questions regarding the Oxford cloth cut lengths.
No problem either way. I was just curious.
Just delayed a little bit. I assume you’re on the waiting list?
I believe so. I check regularly, but sometimes I feel I miss some emails in the spam filters.
If you ever find one in spam, just saying it isn’t spam should then validate that email address. Equally if you do get some in your normal email, they shouldn’t also go into spam
I have not found any in spam so far. But I know some transactional emails have been missing – most orders have a cadence of emails, and one or two orders an email notification may never come thru. I was having more troubles with the my work email, as the security setup they had would treat emails inconsistently. Since switching to personal it has been much better. No worries though, the issue is most certainly on my end.
OK, thanks Ben. Do always let us know if you conclude anything, it’s useful for when other customers ask
Hello Simon, I was wondering whether you have considered designing a lightweight jacket that could be worn over tailoring – not as heavy as the donegal/bridge, not so defined in its use as the wax walker/trench (which in my mind fulfill specific needs/looks). But could also pair with jeans/casual looks, in a fabric that is somewhat weather resistant. In other words, a very versatile piece.
An m65 also fulfills this role, but many people do not want such a strong military link. Anglo Italian do something seasonal each year in what they call a “technical cotton”, in the form of their “Barn” and “Country” coats – these are the closest to what I was thinking of, but would benefit from your touch – longer length, larger collar, a few less features etc.
Anyway, just an idea, which I am sure you have no shortage of. Cheers
Thanks John. To be honest I think the wax walker is that for me. I like waxed cotton in that kind of role, wouldn’t want a synthetic, and I don’t think something like Ventile works best in that kind of piece
Thanks Simon. I tried the wax walker, but wasn’t keen on the waxed cotton – felt abit stiff, and wet almost. But I appreciate it may soften with time and I know many people love it. Thanks again.
Yes, it’s definitely an aesthetic you have to like, but it is so much better in that kind of length coat I think. If you want alternatives, Anglo-Italian and Saman Amel both do coats of that kind of length
Hi Simon,
Has the brown bull skin tote restocked yet?
I just had a look and they are sold out ?
Thanks
No, it will be another month or two
Simon, I know others have pointed this out, but just wanted to say thanks for being so generous in answering almost every question/comment left by readers. And not just with quick, superficial answers either, but with detailed and thoughtful ones. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything else like it, and it makes PS so much more rewarding to be a part of.
Thank you very much, it’s rewarding my end too!
Just wondering, did the finest polo restock come and go, or are the new colors just place holders?
In general PS products seem to sell out lightning fast these days, congratulations Simon!
Cheers TF. No the new ones haven’t been launched yet. It will be about 3 weeks (Dartmoors and Finest Crewneck coming first)
Dear Simon, I am currently looking for coats for FW.
Now I have seen that you are planning another coat. Can you share any information in which direction this might go?
Thank you.
Hi Sam,
The information we have shared so far is that it will be:
– Double-breasted
– Wool, grey herringbone
– Heavier weight, a real winter coat
– Not a tailored coat
Thanks
Hi Simon,
Apologies if this has already been covered, but a lot to comments to read to find out! Just wanted to know if there was an update on the grey version on the T-shirt, and if the brown Donegal coat would be available come fall? Thank you.
No worries Gab.
Grey T-shirt coming this autumn yes, hopefully around October. And no, the brown Donegal is not coming back I’m afraid. Just one left anywhere I think, an XXL on our site
