‘Bleu de Travail’ workwear
I have forgotten the name of the famous French maker of blue workwear still being made today
Great report. Nice to see something new.
I'm not so familiar with the chukkas, but they seem to split pretty evenly into ones that are pointier (eg Tetbury) and rounder shapes (eg the Chiltern). I'd stick to the rounder end probably
If you only had five shoes: A capsule collection
Yes, generally something a bit heavier and not soft will be sharper On colours, it's the same as the rest of tailoring really - navy and grey the smartest, then neutrals like cream. Green, brown etc more casual, but smarter the darker and less of…
If you only had five (smart) trousers
Thank you, this is very helpful! Just a few things, when you say a 'sharp' linen, would that refer to a heavier weight material that is not as soft? Also, which colours would be more casual, and which smarter?
Sorry, I was still referring to the chukka boots. I see four models the Chukka, Chiltern, Tetbury and Upton.
I think it's a really nice design. Whether it's too smart for your office is something it's hard for me to judge - perhaps see what everyone else has and consider how much it would stand out (and how much you already stand out in…

Massura: Building on constructive criticism
It depends on the style - usually Boston or Harvard, but that is a slightly more casual, preppy style. Otherwise something longer like Sydney
That may be true but then a a major factor is price with Anglo Italian being 2x the price as Natalino. All that aside Massura seem a very good price point at the entry price level .
Thank you for the response. It’s so refreshing , in today’s world, to put across ‘strong’ points and receive a well reasoned response . Much respect .
What do you think of the Frank Clegg x The Armoury Sunbrella zip tote bag (https://www.thearmoury.com/collections/bags/frank-clegg-x-the-armoury-sunbrella-zip-tote?variant=42842116047) as an everyday/weekend bag? Would it be too much in a rather casual office? I'd likely use it to carry a lunch box, a pair of sunnies, headphones and…
Cheers! Which C&J dark brown suede model do you prefer?
Thank you kindly
Wear loafers with jeans
Touché, there is no hand padding in the lapel, I think.
I'm afraid I don't really know who goes up to those sizes Lindsay, sorry
Five tips on shirts
Good to know that! RTW not ruled out. For RTW, who would you consider for reliability? I’m an 18.5 “ collar size which is big. Possibly even 19” ??? RTW or even MTM but good quality and for MTM a decent choice of fabrics. Thanks…
Yes I don't like drawstrings as much for that reason, I wear them but only with things untucked. Belt loops always going to be more casual than side adjustors, but really it's about the material - how soft or sharp a linen, and what colour.…
It depends on other factors as to how long the shirt will last, unforutnately, such as how much you sweat and what activity you're doing. But, the point of bespoke is not longevity. Don't buy a bespoke shirt for that reason
Well, on the short sleeve: - Colhay's is an unusual one, quite heavy for a short-sleeve, and warm being cashmere/silk. I love mine, but it's not super versatile. Feels like a regular knit almost in weight, like the rest of their things - The Finest…
Re-introducing, the Dartmoor polo-collar sweater!
Close to, yes. I can't remember all the handmade details of their RTW, there might be one or two things to push it higher
Hi Simon, I have a query that relates both to the smart and casual trouser sections. How do you define casual in comparison to smarter linen trousers, aside from weight? I would think drawstring is very casual, but where do features like belt loops and…
Take a bespoke shirt in a fairly strong fabric, eg Oxford. Could even be any fabric. Should the care routine be as follows? 1. Wear the shirt 1 day 2. Wash by machine after EACH wear. 3. Iron How approximately long will that shirt last.…
